Promise what you want, Deliver Nothing

Ahoy Matey, have bad credit, ya say? Suffering the no education, hard life blues, fired from selling da cars… tis da curse. Give ear Matey, when you’re not playing guitar, dressed like a pirate selling chowder to tourists in t-shirts you could become a credit repair specialist! Beware the dreaded “Black Spot,” an e-mail wanting to share “Opportunity” (
www.nforc.com) with you; storm clouds on your horizon you see, take no heed or marooned you may be! A sorry lot you be sailing with (see the movie instead; Disney’s “Pirates of the Caribbean”) several rumored to be credit repair specialists in their off time.

Promise anything, deliver nothing… take the money and run they will; or so the like might be if you cast your lot with these scallywags. Aaarrg, Captain Jack was right; Monsters They be… an unregulated lot! But are they all unwashed you say? Possibly we reply, maybe in jest but possibly for real (Monsters there be).

Smoke and Mirrors – Results not Guaranteed
Let the buyer beware: At the heart of credit repair is a simply letter which just about anyone can scrawl. The results vary… but letter writing campaigns work, cost but a few stamps; and produce proven results. Pirate jokes aside credit repair companies all claim to have “The Map,” secret techniques providing amazing results. The prices for these “maps” (services) range from a few dollars for “how to” books and software to a thousand dollars plus (Nationwide Credit Alliance NCA) for the services of specialized repair companies. As a lender the credit questions use to be about minor credit blemishes, but today more serious issues like collections, charge offs, foreclosures and bankruptcies are the concern.

We Should Have Seen It One Coming…
Our Fault!

All The Signs Were There; But we were all hoping “Nationwide Credit Alliance” (NCA) worked; and regrettably between all their hoops, hurdles and hype we have nothing positive to report (www.NationWideCA.com
).
 
Somehow we probably should have seen the failure coming because “Nationwide Credit Alliance” has the look and feel of the over priced services that have given the industry a bad reputation. Fortunately we were careful enough with our review not to jump into it at the expense of the public, but we involved numerous realtors, offices and friends, causing them frustration, lost time and us personally. Hey; we knew to beware.

Taking Advantage of the Vulnerable
We were taken advantage of because like those desperate to improve their credit we wanted to believe NCA might be different. We decided to overlook the obvious contractual loopholes and focused on the promised results. “Results” that are very convincingly presented by company founder, Bill Cloyd… so we took a calculated risk and decided to cover the story both journalistically with a credit repair challenge and professionally (assuming we could show the process worked) by marketing the service itself.
