Pizza My Heart Review
The slideshow of pictures we shot at this reception dinner tell the story almost as well as anything we could write. Pizza My Heart makes absolutely amazingly good pizza! The Let’s Dine Out Group arrived on a busy Friday night to a reception area set up outside the pizzeria’s inside dining area on an outside area of reserved tables. The hospitality began at the door and extended the entire evening. What is important about this point is that although our Let’s Dine Out Group received special attention, so did everyone else dining at the busy eatery.
Pizza My Heart clearly goes out of its way to provide outstanding service, well above and beyond what can be expected of any small pizzeria restaurant. As a food critic myself (The Wright Gourmet), I was amazed at the reception shown our group, so I quietly checked back on Saturday Night unannounced to see if service remained the same. It Does! Needles to say, the pictures tell the story but the pizza production “performance,” hospitality and taste explain Pizza My Heart success.
We were provided samples of the same recipes Pizza My Heart won their awards for at the contests… all items available to any customer. As a reviewer, the first impression is the quality of the ingredients. Pizza My Heart cuts no corners on quality and quantity. Most may not notice but this meticulousness extended to simple things like the marina and cheese sauces served with Pizza My Heart’s garlic bread sticks and salads. Very good… and all “low-cal” I’m sure.
A major factor of Pizza My Heart success can be viewed from the front window and extends from their homemade sauces to their hand tossed pizza dough. I did not see a rolling pin anywhere; the pizza’s are all hand-tossed. Those walking the mall area literally stop to watch the show as the pizzas are made and dough tossed several feet into the air.
Pizza Making Secret:If you notice the pictures, Pizza My Heart adds a little drizzle of extra sauce strategically placed on top of their cheese. There is sauce also spread out under the cheese. From a taste standpoint, this little trick adds layers of flavors from the sauce without adding so much sauce under the cheese the toppings all slide off as it is eaten. Very creative culinary touch!
The pictures also show how generous Pizza My Heart is with their toppings. You can easily see how quantity combines with quality and technique to provide an award winning pizza every time. What the pictures do not show is the crispness of the crust. Pizza My Heart allows the crust to bubble up and crisp naturally in their ovens without popping the bubbles. This would be more of an Italian style than what many pizzerias in the US produce. This technique yields a pizza with a crust that remains crisp even when loaded down with ingredients. Bottom Line; Pizza My Heart serves up some awesome pizza! Prices are competitive, plus pizza is sold at the counter by the piece for those walking down the mall. Very well thought out presentation combined with point of sale marketing everyone stops to taste.
With over a dozen locations serving Monterey and Up into the San FranciscoBay area, one would be hard-pressed to find better pizza; Pizza My Heart is simply award winning Pizza! Pizza My Heart’s website explains how they make such good pizza rather humbly. They point out that almost all pizza is made from the same ingredients. “It’s just flour, salt, sugar, water, tomatoes, cheese, and spices. So how do some places mess it up so badly? It’s the process.” The pizza you order right now from Pizza My Heart, they started making about 36 hours ago. In reality, they explain… few pizzerias take the time to make good pizza any more. We would point out that it is worth the wait for perfect pizza.
NOTE: Locals pronounce the “Pizza My Heart” name as “PIECE-ah My Heart” … and their food is worth a bit of a drive!
Pizza My Heart honestly makes some of the best pizza this reviewer has ever had the privledge of tasting... Thank You, and Good Luck at the Pizza Nationals. You Guys are all Winners in our book! The Let’s Dine Out Group left impressed something beyond “blown away.” Can anyone say “Southern California Franchise Opportunity?”
