Contemporary Restaurants Greetings Everyone; Contemporary Restaurants are a relatively new trend developing at least partially out of the celebrity chef phenomenon and the levels of creativity this has inspired with many upcoming restaurants. These restaurants typically specialize in blends of ethnic cuisines and/or fusions of cultural tastes into specialized and very trendy, stylized menus.
The prices of these restaurants tend to be higher than average, but so does the levels of décor, service and plating presentations. Dining in these restaurants can be as much an event as a meal… and we have laughed about such after leaving hungry after spending over $75 each at several of these restaurants (in LA & OC / alcohol not included) because the serving sizes can be on the “smaller” side when compared to many dinner houses.
The push at many Contemporary Restaurants is on the “Quality” and not the “Quantity” … we have yet to dine at a “Contemporary” restaurant that combines both. If your emphasis is more towards quantity you may want to consider the “Claim Jumper,” who specializes in gluttonous serving sizes plus serves up darn good grub!
