By Ed Wright, "The Wright Gourmet"
If you are a Real Foodie you will not want to miss out on what is sure to be a fun inaugural broadcast on Saturday, June 2nd from 4:00pm - 5:30pm live from the Temecula Balloon & Wine Festival on "AM" News Talk Radio 590 KTIE. Allen Borgen is sure to liven up the weekends for what has become an impressive weekday radio lineup of hosts on 590 KTIE
(No More Boring, Self Serving weekend Mortgage Shows!)
Then tune in every Saturday from 4:00pm – 5:00pm as Allan Borgen and Co-Host Karen Draper take your calls and talk about food and entertainment options in the Inland Empire.
The "new" Let's Dine Out Web site is still being "worked on" but will be running at full speed in the coming weeks. You won't want to miss the new additions to the "Let's Dine Out" site. Allen & Karen's new radio show should be a lot of fun and promises new features including: The opportunity for 2 listeners of the show to join Allan Borgen, on a "real" restaurant review and talk about it on the air...LIVE!
This will be the first and only live restaurant review show on radio or television and with Allen's humor should prove to be fun and informative. Exchanges between Allan and "Guest" food critics promise to be lively, entertaining, informative and controversial... with Allen already promising to tell us which restaurants are his favorites... and which restaurants "Just Plain Suck!"

BASKIN-ROBBINS Ordered to pay nearly $500,000 in Fines
By: Ed Wright 5/2007
Baskin-Robbins, the ice-cream chain famous for its “31 Flavors” has quietly agreed to pay nearly $500,000 in penalties and costs to the California State Attorney General’s Office (and San Diego District Attorneys Office) for Fraudulent Advertising. The fine is resultant of Weights & Measures Inspectors from 29 different Counties in California finding that at 188 Baskin-Robbins Ice Cream stores their “Hand-Packed” Ice-cream they were selling by the “Pints” in weight were short by about 25% on average. Unfortunately for Baskin-Robbins Inspectors found that on average the “Pints” being sold were on average 4 ounces short weight wise. For reference purposes keep in mind that 2-cups = 1 pint = 16 ounces.
Baskin-Robbins faced similar problems in the past with violations occurring in 1985, when it was than ordered by the San Diego Superior Court to stop advertising “Hand-Packed” ice-cream as being a “Pint” (by weight), unless the containers were advertised to be filled to deliver a pint of ice-cream by “Volume”… which becomes very deceptive when you consider the major component of ice-cream when considered by actual “Volume,” is cold air.
